WLAN Pros Toolbox Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 8, 2026
WLAN Pros Toolbox is a free set of Wi-Fi, RF, and network field tools for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android, published by WLAN Pros. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your data. The short version: the app collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. We operate no server that receives your data, and we keep no record of your activity.
Data we collect
None. WLAN Pros Toolbox has no user accounts, no login, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking. We run no server that receives your data. The app stores no record of your activity once you close a tool.
We do not know who you are, what networks you read, or what you look up. We cannot, because none of that information is ever sent to us or saved anywhere we can read.
How the tools work
The app's tools run in one of three ways:
- On your device only. The calculators, subnet and IPv6 math, MAC address vendor lookup, command references, reference tables, the glossary, and the laminated-card PDFs run entirely on your device. They send nothing anywhere. Every Wi-Fi, network, and RF reading the app computes is calculated and shown on your device.
- Diagnostics against a target you choose. Tools such as Ping, Ping Sweep, Port Scan, Traceroute, DNS Lookup, ARP/NDP, Packet Sender, SSL/TLS Inspect, HTTP Header, Wake-on-LAN, and Network Discovery send network packets to the host, IP address, or URL you type in. That traffic goes directly from your device to the target you chose. It does not pass through us.
- Public lookup services we contact on your behalf. A few tools query public internet services to answer your request. When you use one of these tools, your device contacts the service directly. That service may log your device's public IP address and your query in its own records, under its own privacy policy. We receive nothing from these exchanges. We list every one of them below so you can decide whether to use those tools.
Third-party services the app may contact
When you use the matching tool, your device sends a request directly to these services. We receive nothing in return, and none of this traffic passes through any WLAN Pros server, because we operate none.
- IP Geolocation uses ipwho.is to look up location and network details for an IP address or hostname you enter. If you leave the field blank to locate "your own IP," ipwho.is receives and geolocates your device's public IP address. No account or key is used.
- Test My Connection (ISP details) uses ipinfo.io, with get.geojs.io as a fallback, to look up your public IP address and your internet provider's name when you run Test My Connection. Your device contacts these services directly. No account or key is used, and we receive nothing.
- BGP / ASN Lookup uses the RIPEstat Data API (operated by RIPE NCC) to look up routing information for an IP address or autonomous-system number you enter. No account or key is used.
- DNS Lookup resolves the domain you enter using a DNS-over-HTTPS resolver you select, Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) by default or Google (8.8.8.8). The query is encrypted in transit to the resolver you choose.
- WHOIS queries the public WHOIS system (IANA and the authoritative domain or IP registry) for the domain or IP you enter. WHOIS is an older internet protocol with no encryption, so the query travels in plain text to the WHOIS server, the same way every WHOIS client works.
- Network Quality measures your connection's speed, latency, jitter, loss, and responsiveness using Cloudflare's public speed-test servers (
speed.cloudflare.comandone.one.one.one). The upload portion sends throwaway filler data generated only to measure upload speed, never your files or personal data. The tool also checks reachability to a fixed list of well-known public sites by opening and immediately closing a connection to each.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing what it logs. We do not control those services and we do not receive their logs. If you never run these tools, the app contacts none of them.
Permissions the app uses
WLAN Pros Toolbox requests only the permissions it needs to read the Wi-Fi and network details you ask for. Each is used on your device and is never collected, stored by us, or transmitted to us.
Location (Android: ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION; iOS: Location When In Use)
The operating system requires an app to hold Location permission before it will reveal Wi-Fi network details, such as the name (SSID) of the network you are connected to and the nearby Access Points a scan can see. This is an Android and iOS platform rule, not a WLAN Pros choice. WLAN Pros Toolbox requests Location permission only for this reason, to read and display Wi-Fi network details inside the app.
The app does not read, use, store, or transmit your geographic location. Your location never leaves your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. If you decline Location permission, every other tool still works. Only the Wi-Fi network details that the OS gates behind Location will be unavailable.
Local network access (network diagnostic tools)
The network diagnostic tools, such as Ping, DNS Lookup, Port Scan, Traceroute, and Network Discovery, need access to your local network to do their job. The app uses this access only to contact the hosts you choose, whether that is a device on your own network or a public address you type in. No local-network scan result is collected, stored by us, or transmitted to us. It is computed and shown on your device.
No other sensitive permissions
The app requests no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no camera, no calendar, no phone, no SMS, and no background location. It holds no advertising identifier and shows no ATT (App Tracking Transparency) prompt, because it does no tracking.
No third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs
The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no data broker, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking of any kind. We do not share, sell, or rent any data, because we hold none.
Data storage and retention
The app stores no personal data on your device beyond the temporary information needed to show a result while a tool is open. When you close a tool, that information is gone. There is no history, no log file, and no database of your activity.
Children's privacy
WLAN Pros Toolbox collects no personal information from anyone, including children, so it is safe to use at any age. The app is a technical utility and is not directed at children. Because the app collects nothing, it complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Google Play Families policy by design.
Your rights
Because we collect and store no personal data about you, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, export, or delete. If you have questions about this, contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data behavior ever changes, we will update this policy and the effective date above before the change ships.
