MAIN CONFERENCE AGENDA

Main Conference Registration & Reception (evening before Main Conference begins): Monday evening, 6 February

  • **Be sure to check the schedule for actual times & locations
  • Arrivals | All Day:
People will be arriving to the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak throughout the day and can check directly into their rooms when they arrive. Remember, that official check-in isn’t until 16:00 (4 pm) – so come ready to be pleasant and kindhearted if your room isn’t available when you first arrive. The hotel said, IF your room is ready and open they would be happy to get you in sooner.
  • Main Conference “Check-In”
That evening we will have a #WLPC registration table set up in the Conference Center Lobby. There will be signs and Reception can point you in the right direction.  ***If you miss us this first night – don’t worry, we will be set up the next morning as well to help get you checked-in.

  • Main Conference “Reception” | Later that same evening:
As soon as you check in with the team, you are invited to hang out and buy yourself some food from one of the food trucks or a drink from one of the cash bars. This is always a great time as we kick off the conference.

Join us the evening before #WLPC for a fun evening with Food Trucks, cash bars, and 400 of your closest friends.

Day 1 & 2 of Main Conference: Tuesday, 7 Feb – Wednesday, 8 Feb

You can take a look at the actual agenda to see the rundown of the days. Basically the main sessions and Deep Dives will be going on all day Tuesday and Wednesday and we will have sessions until around noon on Thursday.‍

Presentations & Deep Dives

For those of you who are new to #WLPC the day is broken down into the following “blocks”

  • 55 minute presentations
  • 30 minute presentations
  • 20 minute presentations
  • 10 minute presentations
  • Deep Dives (6 hours of training spread over two days)

The different length presentations happen scattered throughout each day.

The Deep Dives happen Tuesday and Wednesday evenings after a day of presentations.

You will be in the same Deep Dive you signed up for at registration both nights. Each Deep Dive takes both days and there are specific kits pre-purchased for you ahead of time, so there is no switching Deep Dives.

#WLPC After Hours

Both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, after conference officially ends for the day, we have opened up the facility to allow different vendors to host their own sessions. These are a chance to see what’s new with the vendors. They always include free food and drinks and a lot of “bonus knowledge”. They are free to attend and not required, but always a lot of fun. We will be announcing all the the vendor sessions at the conference and letting you know exactly where they are happening and when.

More late night fun

Beyond the vendor sessions there are always some other fun actives. In the past we’ve had a retro game room, lego master build room, and a pub quiz night. Watch for more details coming as we draw closer to the actual event.

And for the early birds

Usually there are a variety of fun events, Be sure to check the schedule as more details will be added as we get closer the #WLPC. Past early morning events have been:

  • Yoga Class
  • Prayer Group
  • Running Group

Have an idea for an early morning event? Let us know.

Day 3 of Main Conference (Last Day): Thursday, 9 February

  • Final Day | Same morning Schedule as Wednesday & Thursday:
We will be following the same basic morning schedule as the two previous days. We are ending with lunch this year to allow all our attendees who have to catch flights, etc not to have to miss anything.

  • Check Out of your room (conference is NOT over yet) | 11:00am
If you are departing Friday you will need to officially check out of your room by 11:00. Because check out is before #WLPC ends, the hotel will provide safe storage for all our bags.

  • Close of Conference:
We will wrap things up with lunch this year. So after our closing session, you will grab some food and be on your way.

  • Lunch “To Go”:
Based on lots of feedback from our past attendees we decided to make our “exit” on the last day a little smoother and quicker for those you need to quickly get to the airport but don’t want to miss out on all final presentations etc.

All conference activities as well as sleeping accommodations are all happening at the:

Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak
7677 N 16th St, Phoenix, AZ 85020
(602) 997-2626

From the Resort’s website:
“Nestled near the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak (formerly Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort) is conveniently located near downtown Phoenix & Scottsdale and 20 minutes (10 miles) from Sky Harbor International Airport. The resort features all-suite accommodations with 224 remastered Agave Suites at North Pointe. Resort amenities include a four-acre waterpark, a kid’s camp, a full-service spa and fitness center, three delicious restaurants and 48,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space.”

Hotel Check-In:

Your hotel room will “officially” be available after 4 pm. So, please plan accordingly. If you arrive before 4 pm, the hotel will gladly hold on to your luggage as they prepare your room. There are several on site restaurants, as well as a wonderful pool area where you can relax and enjoy yourself.

If you’re flying in, you’ll want to fly into the Phoenix Sky Harbor Int’l Airport.

There is NO SHUTTLE SERVICE provided by either the hotel or #WLPC to/from the hotel.

As of the time of this writing Uber & Lyft were still available to/from the airport, taxis are for sure readily available. Public transportation is not a good option.

You are more than welcome to rent a car while at the conference, but you won’t need a car while at the conference.

It’s about a 15 – 20 minute drive between the airport and the hotel (depending on the traffic).

Screenshot of google map between the airport and hotel.
  • The hotel is included with your #WLPC registration.
  • There are no “no hotel” options/discounts for #WLPC. All attendees are staying at the Conference Hotel. We do not offer any discounts or off-site accommodations. If you are unable to stay for the entire conference there are no partial attendance discounts provided.
  • Want to arrive early or stay later? There will be an option (during registration) to add “shoulder nights” before and after the main conference dates. You will pay the hotel directly for the shoulder nights at a reduced conference rate.
  • If you are attending the Boot Camp the check in is on Friday 3 Feb.
If you are attending just the Main Conference, your check in is on Monday 6 Feb.
  • All attendees “check-out” on the last day of Main Conference (Thursday, 9 Feb)
  • Check out is 11 am

Here are the check-in & check-out dates included with your registration:

Boot Camp:

Your Room Check-in: Friday, 3 February starting at 4 pm
Your Room Check-out: Thursday, 9 February 11 am

Main Conference:

Your Room Check-in: Monday, 6 February starting at 4 pm
Your Room Check-out: Thursday, 9 February 11 am

If you request additional nights (which will be an option when you register) your check-in, check-out dates will be adjusted accordingly.

“Check In” versus “Start Time”

If you take a look at the start times above, you’ll notice that everyone arrives the evening before classes/conference actually starts.

When you arrive to the hotel, you are coming the evening before bootcamp/conference starts. We’ve designed it this way so attendee (your) arrival time and the check-in process doesn’t interfere with us being able to start our classes/sessions on time and making the most of our first day together.

Both the night before boot camp and main conference, we will have a table set up in the lobby where we will welcome you, hand you your name badge, and officially “check you in” for boot camp/conference. We will provide you a map of the conference facility including where breakfast will be, your classroom, etc.

  • Arrivals | All Day:
People will be arriving to the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak throughout the day and can check directly into their rooms when they arrive. Remember, that official check-in isn’t until 16:00 (4 pm) – so come ready to be pleasant and kindhearted if your room isn’t available if you arrive early. Starting that evening there will be a #WLPC registration table set up in the lobby to check in all Boot Camp attendees. This will be when you receive your name badge, receive any additional instructions and find out exactly where your class (and breakfast) will be held for the next 3 days.

Day 3 of Boot Camp: Monday, 6 February

The all day schedule is the same as Saturday and Sunday. The only difference is in the evening, we are not providing you dinner. Instead we will be hosting our evening reception as we welcome the rest of the #WLPC attendees who are joining us for the Main Conference.

code of Conduct
We love this community of wireless LAN professionals. And a code of conduct should go without saying.. but just in case, please read our full code of conduct to know what is expected of everyone at #WLPC.

It is great to have you be a part of the Wireless LAN Professionals Conference!

Before we get started, we just want to ensure that you adhere to our code of conduct.

While we believe much of this goes without saying, we are going to say it nonetheless to ensure that there are no misunderstandings. The Wireless LAN Professionals Conference does not tolerate harassment of any kind, whether verbal or physical.

The Wireless LAN Professionals Conference welcomes individuals from each walk of life. Regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disabilities, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs or heritage. Discrimination against the mentioned characteristics also has zero-tolerance at our conference.

It should also go without saying that insulting or discriminating against conference organizers or harassing conference organizers or supporting staff will also not be tolerated.

Any harassment or discrimination of any kind, or more generally bullying is totally unacceptable at The Wireless LAN Professionals Conference. Continuously engaging in any form of this behavior will result in instant removal from the conference without the possibility of a refund. Should an incident arise, refusal to comply with the code of conduct or depending on the severity of the situation, consequences could also result in a lifetime ban from The Wireless LAN Professionals Conference.

Furthermore, the Wireless LAN Professionals Conference is a professional event that has been organized with various activities to deliver value to our conference visitors. Some of those activities require audience participation, while others do not. However, in all cases, any deliberate unnecessary disruption of conference activities will also result in removal from the conference.

As we previously stated, we believe that much of this goes without saying but we believe that publicly stating our code of conduct will contribute to a professional, educational and most importantly, enjoyable conference!
